What environments can the robot operate in?

The robot platform is designed to operate in temperatures of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The external peripherals camera, sonar, servos, and electronic speed controls are water and dust resistant. Users can operate the robot in the rain/snow or wade through water with some limitations.

What equipment is required to operate the robot in the field?

The robot platform comes standard with a Logitech Gamepad®. The operator supplies a battery charger, a Windows based computer, and a WiFi access point. Optional equipment includes a VGA touch screen for field diagnostics.

What is the weight of the robot platform?    ^

The robot platform weights 24 pounds (10.8 kg) with a full battery complement.

What is the expected run time of the robot?    ^

Run time is a function of terrain, driving conditions and battery capacity. With the stock battery configuration, user can typically get 2 hours or more of run time.

What level of expertise is required to operate the robot?    ^

The robot platform is designed to address three levels of expertise. For non-programming users the graphical user interface and Gamepad provides the users access to video feeds, sonar, GPS, voltage sensor and motion control. Intermediate and advanced users will enjoy a rich network API that provides access to all motion and sensor data.

How does a user control the robot platform?    ^

The robot is controlled via a Gamepad.

What is the lead time from order to delivery?    ^

The lead time is 4 to 6 weeks, depending on configuration.

What is the cost of shipping?    ^

Shipping within the 48 contiguous states is included in the price of the robot. Additionally ordered items are shipped separately with shipping and handling charges.

Does Edge Robotics offer a warranty?    ^

Edge Robotics offers a limited warranty for 90-days and an optional extended warranty for 1 year.

How do users communicate with the robot platform?    ^

A Windows® based GUI application or a text interface using telnet or ssh. For advanced users a custom application can be written to communicate with the robot’s network protocols.

What languages can the user program in to control the robot?    ^

C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP and Python.

Are C or C++ libraries offered for the robot platform?    ^

A rich network protocol serves as the primary application user interface for platform command and control.

Is the robot capable of self charging in a docking station?    ^

During the design phase the team favored field rechargeable batteries versus an internal charging system.

What operating system does the robot platform use?    ^

Ubuntu Linux.

Are there additional choices for main boards and physical memory (Mini-ITX)?    ^
